Let Your Spirit Soar at BioMaya

Ready for adventure? The newly renovated port of Mahahual welcomes cruise ship passengers to the Caribbean's premier ziplining facility. From the moment you disembark, you'll quickly understand why Costa Maya has become a port stop not to be missed.

BioMaya is Costa Maya's main attraction. Woven into the fabric of the Central American rainforest, BioMaya provides a unique combination of adventure, culture, and eco-tourism, with its state-of-the-art ziplining complex serving as the shining jewel.

In the world of ziplining, BioMaya has set a new standard. The site of the facility is spectacular, offering visitors a birds-eye view of the lush vegetation of the Yucatan rainforest and the turquoise blue waters of the Bacalar Lagoon.

Equally important, BioMaya incorporates the latest innovations in technology and safety. BioMaya's zipline (or zip line) course is built around four platforms connecting three lengthy courses. Your final glide above the rainforest canopy spans more than 2,600 feet and opens to a breathtaking view of Bacalar (also known as the Lagoon of the Seven Colors). Don't be surprised if you're joined in flight by colorful macaws flapping their wings alongside you.

BioMaya is currently the only facility that offers participants the option of parallel ziplining that can accommodate up to four people. Regardless of how you fly, you can rest assured that the highest standards of safety and security have been part of the BioMaya vision from the outset. A unique double cable system means that you'll be suspended by two cables as you zipline. The two cables not only provide extra safety, but also ensure a smoother, more stable ride.

As its name suggests, BioMaya is much more than ziplining. The area around the complex boasts the greatest biodiversity in all of Mexico. Our guides will not only provide you with instructions and insight about the thrill of ziplining, but they'll also introduce you to Costa Maya's ecology and ancient Mayan culture. By the time you're in the air, you'll be looking down on the rainforest canopy and the Mayan heartland with a new perspective.

Cruise ship passengers will appreciate our team's attention to detail. We've designed our operations to make your shore excursion as smooth and worry-free as possible. Our online reservation system is quick, easy, and secure. Booking an independent tour
We understand your apprehension. Making a reservation with an unknown company in a far-away location requires a leap of faith. We're here to do everything possible to address your concerns, starting with the most important questions:
  • Is ziplining at BioMaya safe?
The ziplining complex at BioMaya employs state-of-the-art safety technology. Our infrastructure and equipment conform to the highest standards of safety and security. A unique double cable system means that you'll be suspended by two cables as you zipline. The two cables not only provide extra safety, but also ensure a smoother, more stable ride. Moreover, our ziplining guides have been trained to adhere to the strictest safety procedures. We realize that the thought of gliding dozens of feet above the ground raises concern among all but the reckless. That's why safety is our top priority.
  • Will I miss my ship if I take your tour?
Every cruise passenger's nightmare -- your ship sails into the distance while you're stranded in Costa Maya. Don't worry. It's never happened and we'll make sure that it never does happen. Our business is based almost entirely on cruise ship passengers. As you might expect, our tours are scheduled to fit the schedules of the cruise ships. If there's any doubt about fitting our tour into your schedule, we won't accept your reservation.
  • If my ship is late or skips Mahahual, do I lose my deposit?
You will receive a full refund if your cruise ship arrives late, does not stop in Costa Maya/Mahahual for any reason, or if weather conditions or other factors force us to cancel your reservation. In short, if events beyond your control prevent you from participating in your tour, you are entitled to a full refund.
